Just back from a great week's holiday after reading some reviews I was a bit concerned but shouldn't have been.we had one of the solarium rooms balcony was lovely didn't get sun but I still loved sitting on it if I was to return think I would ask for one a bit further away from the bar. Food was great at beginning of the week but as hotel got busier the food wasn't as nice.the bar wasn't overly busy sometimes at night there would be a small queue but outside was open too.the poolside was clean the top pool was quiet which is a good job as 2 lifeguards sat on their phones most of the time. The only negative is they advertise activities at certain times and only rarely take place Overall the staff were polite and helpful and would probably return to the hotel.

So we are currently here and arrived on wednesday. There are definately alot of positives and a few negatives. 1. Check in staff friendly happy and fab with the kids. Our rooms were ready for us arriving. 2. People complain of the lifts being slow. We have not had this issue and waited a max of 1min going up or down. 3. Rooms are clean beds very comfy pool view room on 4th floor has fab view over aqua park and surrounding area. Shower is powerful. Fresh towels daily and room cleaned daily. 4. Entertainment has been fab. Kids club starts 8.45pm and my two love it. The hotel mascots come out to dance with the kids at the end and then the show starts 9.45pm. There are quizzes, mongolian dancers, cowboy show etc. Something for everyone. The entertainment team work super hard and are just abit crazy haha. 5. Pools. Wow. Never an issue getting a sunbed as pool areas are closed off till 10am so nobody can reserve a sunbed. Pools are not deep. My 10yr old can touch the floor of the pool and she is 1.4mtr tall. The Waterworld zone is brill for kids of all ages even adults. 6 aqua slides half a pool for swimming. No lilo allowed but rings are ok. Lifeguards all around the pool. 2 kids splash pools for the toddlers. Pools are cold but refreshing. 6. Kids club is wonderful. On a various times through the day and is based on the terrace above waterworld. 7. There is no bar next to the pool in the waterworld side it is on the terrace upstairs. 8. There is actually no snack bar. Everything is in the restaurant including snacks which is ashame as the kids dont want to leave the pool areas and this in my opinion would of made the hotel even better. 9. The food. Ok so when we arrived it was bad. Very little options for children ice cold bolognese, eggs that didnt look like they had been cooked properly, not even white bread and alot of people complaining. I will say the hotel has addressed alot of the food issues and they now have a chef stationed to cook the pasta and bolognese fresh for people, good options for kids like pizza chips nuggets sausages. Breakfast is fab. The croissants are delishious. Beans bacon eggs omlettes freshly cooked with choice of fillings. Harissa chicken was delicious the other night as were the chinese options. 10. Location. Fabulous. A stones throw from the beach there are steps just past the neighbouring hotel to magaluf beach with a beautiful bar at the bottom if you want to sit and while away the hours by the sea. Shops close by and a pharmacy. Bus to Palma stops just over the road. Katmandu theme park, western water world, go karting and the pirate show are all within a few minutes walk of the hotel which is fab when you have kids. The hotel also offers 25 percent off for visits to Katmandu themepark and Golf fantasia. Overall would i come here again. Absolutely so long as the food standards dont drop again. It has everything a family needs for a fab holiday. Thankyou again Sol as we are regulars at your many hotels

Overall, we enjoyed a fantastic all inclusive week at the Sol Barbados! The staff & amenities were all good, and the pool - especially if you've got young children - is the best one around! If you can afford it, go see-view; and wear insect repellent at the pool as there are a few flies around that bite.
