Sol Pelicanos Ocas
10583 reviews
Sol Pelicanos Ocas is a family-friendly hotel in Benidorm, one of the best known resorts on the Costa Blanca in the south east of Spain. The hotel is a short stroll away from Levante Beach, a popular stretch of sand that's particularly suitable for young families because of its gently sloping shore and shallow water. At Sol Pelicanos Ocas, there are three outdoor swimming pools. The main pool has three open-air Jacuzzis and is surrounded by a sun terrace dotted with palm trees and Roman-style columns, giving it a tropical feel. In the activity pool, the hotel offers daily activities such as volleyball, water polo, aerobics and gymnastics. Sol Pelicanos Ocas has two buffet restaurants and five bars, one of which is a swim-up bar, allowing you to sip your drink while relaxing in the pool. The hotel provides entertainment several nights a week. You could also head out for a stroll along the promenade behind Levante Beach, which is lined with restaurants and bars, or make the walk or short drive into the centre of Benidorm. Within driving distance of the hotel, in and around Benidorm, are family-friendly attractions like a history-themed park, a water park and 15 golf courses.
Sol Pelicanos Ocas is a 350m walk from popular Levante Beach. In the centre of Benidorm, 2km from the hotel, you can take a walk down to the Balcon del Mediterraneo, a rocky viewpoint that extends into the Balearic Sea. You could also go on a more challenging hike to La creu, a hilltop wooden cross, or around Sierra Helada Natural Park, filled with limestone rock formations and pine forests. The historic city of Alicante, at the heart of the Costa Blanca, is a possibility for a day trip. Its main attractions include Santa Barbara Castle, which is perched on a hilltop overlooking the town, and a bustling harbour.
The two buffet restaurants at Sol Pelicanos Ocas are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's also a snack bar serving lighter meals such as pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches and salads throughout the day, as well as five bars providing soft and alcoholic drinks to keep you refreshed during the day.
The hotel runs a kids' club for children aged 5 to 12 from mid-summer to early autumn. There's also a playground and two kids' pools.
The hotel has two pool areas. At the Sol Pelicanos building lies the large lagoon-shaped swimming pool with three jacuzzis. There is also a children's pool and activity pool as well as an inviting swim up bar. At the Sol Ocas building there is an additional pool, children's pool and a poolside bar.
Rooms at Sol Pelicanos Ocas are contemporary with modern furnishings. All come with Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a TV with satellite channels.

Gone downhill
We have stayed here several times and sadly this will be our last. We normally stay in the pelicanos block but this time we were in the Ocas. Check in was quick as not many people checking in at the same time. We asked for a room facing the street rather than the pool and were given a room on the second floor. When we went on the balcony we were faced with a wall and no view. We asked for a room on a higher floor but were advised that there were none available so had to have a room facing the pool. The hotel was busy but the one good thing was that the Ocas restaurant was open for breakfast. They don’t have enough staff working in the restaurant so it can be difficult to find a clean table. Some of the staff in the restaurant are very rude. The food has gone downhill over the past few years, most of the time it was cold or bearly warm. Very little choice and nothing for kids. The salads and cold meats/ cheese is not topped up and little choice. Deserts were not topped up when they ran out again leaving little choice.. The drinks in the bar when you are all inclusive are very short measures. Still using paper cups at the outside bars. The entertainment is terrible, the same acts singing the same dated songs as they were for the past few years. The daytime entertainment didn’t seem to be taking place. Not worth paying for all inclusive when there are better hotels in Benidorm at half or full board and plenty of bars to go to at night. We won’t be returning to the Sol Pelicanos Ocas until they improve.
Poor quality food
We have visited this hotel for 17 years on and off. Unfortunatly, it has changed. The food is of a much lower standard and they serve the same dishes every day . The choice at breakfast is limited and there is no cava or variety of fruit or pastries . Staff are friendly and the maids work so hard . However, I found the man on reception rude and unhelpful which was also the case with the barmen at the pool bar. The hotel is tired and badly in need of a refurb. We wont return as there were too many down points to this hotel and there are lots of nicer hotels to try .Over a 4 night stay we were kept awake in the early hours 3 nights by people returning after a night out which has not been a problem previously .
Out dated I need of a make over
This hotel is not what it used to be , food poor and repetitive two dining areas only 1 used so long ques hence by the time you got to your table it was cold , rooms nice and clean I must say the maids where excellent, bar side pool in the ocas area did not open till 10.30 and closed 5.30 , the prices have shot up . Tea €2.30 for a very small cup same with the coffee . Could do with new seats in main reception and down stairs bar , they have been there 6 years to my knowledge they are very tired looking and very uncomfortable, Will look at different hotels next time . Pity as I did love the place
