A few little blips but a fab family holiday
We had many reservations about coming to the hotel after recent issues. We havnt had the best week weather wise so don't feel like we got the best from the hotel and I'm sure our review would have been different minus the rain. Normally our family would have got to know the entertainment team but due to the weather entertainment was held in the corner of the lobby bar. Now im sure this doesn't happen very often but just so happens 7 out of our 7 nights were held there - all jammed in to a small space - I'm sure a logistical nightmare for the team! It seemed complete madness to us to use the small space when there was always a free restaurant area that could surely have been utilised. The rain resorted in many leaks around the hotel and then an early morning call with the fire alarm going off - We witnessed one child being sick around the pool on our first morning and had to report to management to get it cleaned up properly when bar staff had just looked on and allowed the parents to mop up. The sickness could have been caused by anything we never spoke to the parents so couldn't comment on that. - all this within 2 days at the hotel. I won't lie I feel much of the hotel is tired and needs some sprucing up but again after a long busy season which is coming to the end a lick of paint will soon fix it. Food options - especially snack wise around the pools - from the pool bars and the Italian were fab additions. Plenty of cocktails available on the all inclusive. We had a fab night at the Greek night in the restaurant and even our 15 and 18 year old joined in with the dancing! Staff were friendly and helpful. The kids loved the water park - a real shame the Wave machine has broke as they were really looking forward to that. All in all a nice family holiday and one we would hope to return to and experience in better weather :) Oh on a last note I have no idea how anyone cant get a sunbed - I have never seen so many!!
Keep your expectations low…
Just spent a week here as an older couple with a 15 year old boy. We booked because there’s a water park on site. It’s pretty good. Pretty good sums up this hotel. Not brilliant. It’s a 4 Star hotel but it’s content not to repair the sign which says Poo Bar. For example…. I’ll try to be as objective as possible. Breakfast is pretty good if you’re from the UK All the usual fare; eggs of all varieties, sausages which are actually ok, bacon which isn’t. It’s just uninspiring. Fresh fruit is mostly tinned fruit; no sign of even watermelon on offer. The main dining room is like a school canteen, or Club Mac in Majorca if you’ve been there. It’s noisy and manic. Queues for everything including tea, coffee, toast, juice etc. If you’re fine with ok food and noise and queues then this is the place for you. Ok I’m Victor Meldrew and I stayed in the Louis Imperial Beach last time. Food in general here is very samey and bland. You won’t go hungry but you won’t say wow. Loads of casserole type dishes which are actually tender enough to eat the third day they appear in various guises. Lots of lamb “oven baked” Lots and lots of lamb”oven baked” It’s mostly bone and gristle. The meat served here is not tender and there’s no getting away from that. And there’s chicken thighs and chicken thighs and chicken thighs… They serve pizza here, even in the Italian restaurant, which is simply the worst any of us has ever encountered. My boy says it’s like cheese on flatbread. It’s just terrible. If you’re coming with a young family and don’t have high expectations you will have a great time here. If your bar is set slightly higher then I suggest you extend your search a bit further.
