Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife
1989 reviews
Bahia Principe Fantasia is a fairytale-inspired resort located on the southern coast of Tenerife, around 14km from Los Cristianos and close to Tenerife South Airport. The brightly painted buildings are set in tree-lined gardens, just 500m from the beach. Golfers will be pleased to know that the nearest course is just 1.5km away.
This family-friendly hotel caters for guests of all ages. For the young children there's fancy dress workshops, games and expeditions, while for the more creative little ones there's crafts and cooking. The Teens' Club, exclusively for teenagers, is ideal for those who would prefer not to remain with their little siblings or parents the whole time. The kids also have their own swimming pools to splash around in, while the infinity pool is exclusively for adults. Choose from five standard pools, including one which is heated in the winter. While you have some peace and quiet maybe indulge in a massage or beauty treatment, sunbathe in the solarium or hit the gym.
In the evening enjoy an exclusive production in the resort's theatre. For guests just wanting to satisfy their appetite the a la carte restaurants will leave them spoiled for choice. The Ladon is named after a fiery dragon, here you can tuck into a succulent steak, fresh from the flames. The hotel's wood fired stove is located in the Italian themed Il Paradiso, meaning hungry mouths won't have long to wait for freshly prepared pizzas. Nemuru is the Japanese word for sleep but you won't want to do that before you have eaten a delicious Oriental dinner, combining traditional recipes and innovative culinary techniques. As you'd expect a range of drinks are available with whatever you decide to eat and these can also be enjoyed throughout the day at numerous conveniently located bars.
There are a variety of room options, catering for different sized families, as well as suiting the needs of those who aren't travelling with children. At Bahia Principe Fantasia you can choose between twin and king sized beds, while you'll have a balcony (some have a sea view), air conditioning, mini-bar and satellite TV. You'll also have a sofa which can convert into an additional bed, allowing up to three adults to share a standard room. If you love being in the water then don't miss out on the option to upgrade to a suite with a swim-up pool.
You can't miss La Teide National Park - literally - the summit is over 3,750m above sea level. Here you can see Paisaje Lunar, which looks like a structure that belongs on the moon but it was in fact formed by volcanic activity. The mountain is one of the best places in the world for stargazing, so if you want to see the Leo constellation or possibly even another planet, there's few places better to observe the night sky from.

Lovely hotel but the food lets it down
We have just returned from a 7 day stay at the hotel and were a party of 9, small children, a 12 year old and the rest adults. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are lovely. they are big and spacious with everything you need. The staff were extremely friendly and i cant fault the cleaning staff- always had our room done within minutes ! now the negatives- yes there are a lot of flies, this is currently down to the time of year, local farmers and hot weather, that i dont mind what i do mind is there appears to not be anything in place to try and help keep them at bay, no protection over food, no systems in place to help at all- no even a can of fly spray! The food at this hotel is not 5 star, its ok, its what you would expect at a 3-4 star , but if im honest i have stayed at a 4 star in Los Cristianos which was simply amazing.... but wanted to try a 5 star as a treat for our family- we wished we had stuck with the hotel we have stayed at for the past 4 visits The location for us as a family was not good, it is pretty isolated with not alot around it, we spent a fortune on taxi's to get us to where we wanted to be- i will take it on the chin because i should of looked into the location better Pool floor tiles- i cannot emphasise enough how dangerous these are, i witnessed some horrific accidents one lady broke her arm and had surgery! another child was seriously injured and multiple falls were witnessed. it would really be beneficial for the hotel to rethink what they are going to go about it because the safety of the customer is not considered we did have a lovely holiday but it could of been so much better which is a shame, we adore tenerife and will always come back but not to this hotel.
Flies and Pigeons!
We arrived mid afternoon. Our first visit to the buffet restaurant was that evening and we were disgusted to see so many flies on the in covered food. This was just the start as it turned out! This place has a big problem with flies and those that are not on the food are so annoying crawling on you and never seem to go away. They have nothing to attract or control them. As if that is not bad enough, there are also pigeons flying around the restaurant landing on tables. It is just disgusting and we had to eat outside the hotel the rest f the week. We did eat at the a la carte restaurants which seemed better. Overall the waiting staff in the buffet are inattentive. They do not clear your plates and do not wait on you, just clear the table when you leave. A la carte was better. The lobby and bar is very nice. Takes a while to get a drink but you can self serve if you just want a beer or wine and soft drinks. Still have to deal with the flies and Pigeons there. This hotel has a lot of potential. What they have for the kids is wonderful and I think they would have a fantastic time here. It is a family oriented hotel so don't go here for a relaxing quiet break as you will not get it. If you think you can put up with the flies and what they spread on your food your kids will love it.
Avoid this hotel
This was our first family holiday since covid age range from 18 months to 82years Hotel spotless and the grounds well maintained. I have read the response from the hotel on some of the reviews laughable Lifeguards trained - trained on what using a mobile phone a 3 year old had cpr done on her after floating face down in the pool where were the lifeguards oh on there phones but also where were the parents for those that have stayed there you will agree it is manic noisy and so much going on but when you don’t watch your children this is what happens time and time again The hotel claims they fumigate the flies I have included photos fumigate my back side if a hotel in the UK served food with the flies we had to contend with they would be closed down they were even on our plates when we were eating a Uv light in different places would help not an excuse the weather is mild never seen it in any other hotel like this Pool side tiles dangerous so slippery we went to aqua land during our stay no issues at all with slipping. Strong smell of sewage from the drains on one side of the hotel We checked in 1130pm wernt told anything just hand directions to where our rooms were no times of meals where to eat kids entertainment A male receptionist alessandro I think his name was absolutely useless at anything you asked about. Bell boys were more helpful not sure how they can say it’s 5 star when they have a lot of health and safety issues that need sorting regardless of what they respond to the reviews I’d like to know who does the inspection as they are either getting a back hander, incompetent or need to go to Specsavers If you like loud noise flys in your food and a lack of lifeguards actually doing there jobs then this is the place for you if you don’t then avoid this hotel Very disappointing for what it cost
