Mid-October Stay
Visited this resort a week before half term. How issues with housekeeping as the hotel was clearly very busy. Had to complain to 3 times, but once again services got involved the issue was resolved quickly. The buffets were not particularly well labelled so it’s difficult for people with dietary requirements. Kikoland although very good was looking a bit tired and wasn’t as well looked after as the hotel. The rooms do not have thermostats, do you have to switch The air-conditioning on and off yourself.
Overall good - not 5 star
We are just returning from a lovely holiday, travelling as a family with children aged 6 and 1. The hotel is impressive at first glance, but there are definitely cracks beginning to show and a refurb is needed in some areas. For example the ceiling inside the spa waiting room is mouldy- and the ceiling outside there part collapsed! The rooms are nice, clean and the beds are comfy. The sea view to the marina side is lovely. However, it is a shame they have external parties at kilo land as the noise is a lot at these points compared to when no parties. We stayed as half board deluxe so we able to make use of the a la carte restaurants each evening-thank goodness, as the buffets were chocka! The food at the a la cartes was really good-the teppanyaki being our highlight. As part of the half board deluxe, we had our minibar included and this was supposed to be filled daily with water, coke, Fanta and a juice….however for 4 days out of 9, we had to ask for this to be done-not 5 star service. We also had one less towel initially than people we had in the room…and after chasing this, ended up asking a chamber maid ourselves. The hair dryer in the room is awful-not at all powerful and a button must be held down continuously too. The pool areas are stunning, but they are heated very very lightly only-I believe this is a Lanzarote thing not just this hotel. Our 1 year old needed a wetsuit-whereas the sea was warmer. However, the stand out positive is the football academy run by Scott and Gary (not run directly through the hotel). My 6 year old absolutely loved it-as did most of the other boys in the hotel. It ran for 2 hours each day in kikolamd and was charged extra. The coaches are encouraging, hilarious and made every little boys holiday! We would stay here again-especially due to the football-and would do half board deluxe again…. But the hotel do need to pick up on this type of feedback and do some refurbs!
Good hotel but needs some improvements
I would normally give this hotel four stars but the sound insulation or lack of it, on the last three nights is fresh in the memory and has really reduced this to three stars. Let’s look at the positives first of all: 4 lovely swimming pools, a great kids club, and an extensive breakfast selection. Also a lovely setting over the beach and also very close to the beach and a short walk to the marina and all the restaurants there. The staff are also super helpful and nice as well and made you feel welcome. The rooms are spacious. Now the negatives; there is really poor sound insulation between the rooms, and my wife and I were kept up all through the night on our last three nights by the sound of a baby crying loudly in the room next door. The swimming pools are also cold, and don’t seem to be heated at all, this is evident by the fact hardly anyone is swimming during the day even though the air temperature is very hot. And one bedroom suites have a kitchenette with a microwave and sink but there are no plates or cutlery so you can’t really use this facility properly. The decor in some of the rooms needs a little bit of updating as well. And the turndown service where they turn the sofas into kids beds was very erratic, often coming at 5 o’clock in the afternoon just as you’re coming off the beach and when you ask them to come back at seven or 8 o’clock when you’re out for dinner they sometimes knock on the door at 11 pm when you’re all asleep, or not come at all.
