Paradise Island
4434 reviews
Paradise Island is a family-friendly hotel in the resort of Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. It's a short walk from the hotel to the town's beach. Two breakwaters protect the shore here, meaning the small bay, with its crescent of sand, is almost free of waves. Looking inland you can see the mountains of the nearby national park. The hotel is built in a modern style that reflects local Spanish architecture.
At the centre of Paradise Island, there are two outdoor pools, whilst children can enjoy two separate shallower options, as well as a mini water park with a variety of slides. Other activities to keep the younger guests entertained include a playground, as well as a disco and clubs for kids, juniors and teens. When you feel the need for a spot of relaxation, you can visit the spa and unwind with a massage or beauty treatment. In the evening, the whole family can watch a show or be entertained by live singers. If you fancy dancing, there's a disco bar that stays open until late. You can stay active with an aerobics class, archery, darts, football, tennis, or with a workout at the gym.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at Paradise Island's buffet restaurant, prepared with local produce. Two additional eateries offer Italian and Asian cuisine. You'll also find kids' options and regular themed nights. Snacks and drinks are available poolside throughout the day, or you can relax with a drink in the lobby bar until late in the evening.
The one-bedroom apartments are ideal for couples and families looking for rest and intimacy. They are 43m2 housing a living room with two sofa beds, a separate bedroom, fridge, microwave, kettle, TV, telephone, safe, WiFi and either a terrace or balcony.
From Paradise Island, it's 1.5km to Flamingo Beach and 2km to the centre of Playa Blanca, one of Lanzarote's most popular resorts. It runs around a headland and along the coast, which is lined with sandy beaches. In town, there's also a harbour and a bustling promenade, with lively bars and seafood restaurants. The neighbouring town of Castillo del Aguila is 5km from the hotel. Here you can hire a boat from the marina to explore the island's coastline. Playa Blanca's water park is 1km from the hotel. If you'd like to see some local scenery and Lanzarote's famous dormant volcanoes, Timanfaya National Park is 20km away.

Currently here on our family holiday.
We've had a lovely stay here at HL paradise but I would say it's a 3 star not a 4 for a few reasons. Good points Room spacious - modern bathroom. Food what you expect from AI, Abit samey but always something for us and the kids. Chinese/Italian restaurant seperate with a small selection Playa Blanca beautiful - Abit too far to walk with kids but €4 in a taxi and 5 minutes. Animation team and restaurant staff work hard. Reception staff good - had a few issues with the room and maintenance staff were called straight away - balcony light not working, hairdryer kept blowing the fuse and more pillows required. Came straight away and sorted. Water park Abit basic but my little boy loved it Given pool towels on arrival which can be exchanged once a week. The marina Rubicon is beautiful, market day Wednesday & Saturday here. Shop on site good. Bad points Entertainment rubbish! Kids disco 8:30-9 and then kids were bored. Most nights back at the room for 10. Shame there isn't anywhere to walk to at night - half an hour walk to playa. Drinks Abit hit & miss, don't always get what you ask for & watery, particularly from the drinks dispenser. AI drinks end at 11 but music continues til 12 which seems Abit daft. Quite a few ants in the room but to be expected so didn't complain. Had to put towels on sunbeds at 7:30 or couldn't get one. No information in reception about trips or area. All in all a nice family holiday and a lovely hotel but the entertainment at night let it down - probablly the worst we've ever had.
Lovely family holiday
Hi, we arrived home on Saturday after a weeks stay here. Two adults and 2 kids (11+15) I was getting a little obsessed with reviews of here before arrival but I had absolutely nothing to worry about. The room was clean and fresh towels everyday apart from one. The food was lovely. My boys loved the pancakes and churros. They opened the 2nd restaurant half way through the week were they made amazing stone baked pizzas. Pool was cold but fine once you were in. Great wee onsite shop. Staff in bars and restaurants all very hard working and pleasant. Also the broken decking that I read about on here was being fixed last week. On-site aqua park was a win. Also the cava was very nice too I would book again.
I personally wouldn't go back, here is why...
This is a fair and honest accounting of our stay of 8 people, 4x families for 2x weeks all inclusive. All my complaints were taken to the staff while there. Nothing changed other than being sent a cheap bottle of Prosecco. This was a nice gesture but as I said nothing I said had an impact. Pros: Nice layout of the pools in close proximity to the bar Water Park slides are decent enough Apartments are spacious and not a mile walk away Not too far from the airport Town is just down the hill Outside watermark is very limited but very close. Good small supermarket on site with ATM outside Cons: All Inclusive means only being served two drinks at the bar at a time. Kids self serve drinks machines malfunctioned on two different areas for a full week before we came home. The decking outside the main reception bar is lethal! One of our party took a spill! The pools were closed frequently because people were sick in the pools The water park is windy to the point that it's unusable. Can't bring food down to the baby pool area. Food made us sick more often than not - and I mean physically. Not surprising as I snapped a shot of cockroaches in the dinning hall and the flies were everywhere! I mean a plague of them and not a bug zapper in sight! No other resturants or food choices on location other than that buffet three times a day, and pool bar food was mostly just dry sandwiches with tastless cheese and ham. No entertainment at night other than rare nights when the same singer was on repeat for two weeks. Most of the time the main bar would stop giving glasses 30 minutes before all-inclusive ended. So you were expected to pay premium for drinks out of a paper cup (and they were small) When drinks were served they were tiny! I complained to the manager and bar manager. They swiftly had a conversation in Spanish which was clearly not was being relayed back to me in English. Most of the staff are hard working but the bar manager should not be customer facing. He goes around in a constant bad mood, taking everything out on his staff. He is ignorant towards paying customers. Arcades frequently break down and steal money and are jot well maintained. Ants were so wntiful in the apartments we got covered head to toe in bites. We kept all food packages and I had a can of Raid but no help. They are so bad it's the single biggest problem in these apartments. I didn't even find the odd geckos and roaches but the ants...it was like being on a survival show getting eaten alive. My poor kids still have scars!
